Next Steps for Groups

Outreach and Health Ministry

The majority of people who visit our Health Outreach Bus have either not eaten anything or had enough to eat when they receive a meal at the Bus. We invite your group to help by preparing prepackaged meals or sack suppers for them.

Quantities range from 50 to 100 people, depending on the Bus stop. Meals, which should be scheduled in advance, may be served by your group alongside the Bus, dropped off at the stop, or brought to our administrative office. We are also accepting sack suppers for our outreach on the CTA. Please check out our meal calendar and then reach out to Andrew Hart, Volunteer Coordinator, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 773-506-6033 to make arrangements.

We are accepting donations of sack suppers at our administrative office that are handed out by our Street Medicine Team to clients across the city. Please contact Andrew to make arrangements in advance.

What are sack suppers?

Sack suppers should include a sandwich (meat and cheese only, no condiments), easy to eat fruit such as an orange or a banana or a fruit cup, chips, and bottled water. Some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are appreciated, as well. Please place only the chips and fruit items in a brown paper bag. Keep sandwiches separate as we often refrigerate them separately. Bottles of water may be kept in their original packaging case.

The Crib

COVID-19 protocols currently prevent us from having volunteers come in to serve meals, but we are accepting home-prepared or restaurant breakfasts and dinners for guests of The Crib overnight shelter on the weekends. Meals, which should serve 25 people, may be dropped off at or delivered to the shelter, which is located in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood.

Please check our meal calendar to see when we need meals at The Crib. Then contact Andrew Hart, Volunteer Coordinator, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 773-506-6033 to make arrangements to arrange drop-off or for more information.

Youth Outreach Van

COVID-19 protocols currently prevent us from having volunteers serve alongside our Youth Outreach Team during their weekly outreach event in Lakeview. However, we are still accepting meals that we will serve to the young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability who visit the Team during the event.

Please check our meal calendar to see when we need meals for the Youth Outreach Team. Then contact Andrew Hart, Volunteer Coordinator, at This email address is being protected from spambots.
