    Kiantae is Director of Global Sourcing with BMO Financial Group. He earned a BBA degree from Saint Xavier University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Previously he served on the board of Storycatchers Theater.

    Jim is Vice President and Environmental Risk Manager for the Real Estate Valuation Group at Fifth Third Bank, specializing in environmental due diligence and environmental risk underwriting for commercial real estate secured loans. He earned a BA from Saint Lawrence University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy & Administration from Northwestern University, and is currently back at Northwestern part-time, pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science. Previously Jim served as member and Treasurer of the Friends of the Chicago River Board of Directors, President of Resurrection Lutheran Church, and Vice-President of the American Theater Company Board of Directors. He and his wife, Ozana, are parents of two young sons.

    Mini serves on the adjunct faculty of the University of Southern California School of Social Work and also is consultant to nonprofit organizations. She earned a BA degree from Northern Illinois University and an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis. Mini and her husband, Debu Chakravarti, are parents of two teenaged daughters.

    Gordon is a retired executive from a national career in sales and marketing for firms including Berkey Photo, Phototron, and Walgreens. He attended the University of Houston and is a United States Army Veteran. Currently he also serves as board member for the Antique Advertising Association of America and as board member and Treasurer of the Plaza on Dewitt Condo Association. Gordon and his wife, Paula, are parents of two and grandparents of six.

    Ben is an attorney at Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen whose legal practice focuses on the financing and development of affordable housing and other community development initiatives. He earned a BA degree from Boston University, a JD from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Previously he served The Night Ministry as Kellogg Board Fellow, and currently he is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development. Ben and his wife, Jen, are happy dog owners.

    Barbara specialized in land use and zoning law and litigation for private and public sector clients during her forty-year legal career, most recently as in-house counsel of Integrys Energy Group. She earned a both a BS and a JD degree from the University of Illinois. She has previously served as President of Women Law Students and The Wilmette Forum. Barbara and her husband, John, have two adult sons.

    Claudia is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. She received her M.D. degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School and has practiced emergency medicine for more than 10 years at hospitals in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area. Claudia is the mother of two and lives on the Southside of Chicago.

    Dave is Senior Trader in the Chicago offices of Group One Trading, specializing in the options market. He holds a BA degree from Duke University. Currently he also serves on the Associate Board of CJE Seniorlife and volunteers with Urban Initiative. Previously he was a founding member of the Young Professionals of Chicago and served as inaugural chair of its Board of Directors, as well as a member of The ARK’s Young Leaders Committee. Dave and his wife, Nicole, are parents of two young children.

    Michael is Vice President of Data Protection at Stericycle, Inc. He earned a BS degree in Operations Management from Northern Illinois University. Previously he served as member of the Finance Council for St. Tarcissus Parish on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Michael and his wife, Michelle, are parents of three sons.

    Shawna is Pastor and Head of Staff at Friendship Presbyterian Church in Norwood Park. She holds a BA degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and a MDiv from McCormick Theological Seminary. Also an artist, she collaborates with faith communities, non-profits, and other entities to create visual art as a way of telling stories and cultivating community. Previously she served as board member for Planned Parenthood of Iowa.

    Bill is President of Chesley, Taft & Associates, LLC, a Chicago-based investment management firm. He holds a BS degree from Purdue University. He has served as President of the Bond Club of Chicago; board member of the Investment Adviser Association, Private Bancorp, Inc. and Precision Twist Drill Company; and Chairman of the Governing Members, as well as Treasurer and Chairman of the Endowment and Investment Committee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has also worked with the Grant Park Concert Society and the Evanston Community Foundation. Bill and his wife, Anne, are parents of two and grandparents of four.

    Carrie is partner at Jones Day law firm, focusing her practice on complex commercial litigation. She holds a BA from the University of Illinois and a JD from Loyola University of Chicago. She previously served as president of the Women’s Bar Foundation of Illinois and on the Women Rainmakers Board of the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section. She has been recognized among Chicago’s Top Rated Lawyers in Litigation by the Chicago Tribune and one of “The Most Powerful and Influential Women in Illinois” by the National Diversity Council. Carrie and her partner, Aaron Hogan, live in Bucktown.

    Norm is an attorney with Saul, Ewing, Arnstein & Lehr, now spending most of his time consulting for non-profit organizations through the Executive Service Corps and other entities. He holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a JD from Northwestern University. He is a fellow of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago and serves there on its Advancement Committee. His previous board experience includes serving as President of Lincoln Park Community Services. Norm and his husband, Mario Lopez, proudly serve as host parents to AFS exchange students.

With a BA from DePaul University, he serves as a Peruvian American Medical Society Missionary and volunteers with the Center on Halsted and Vital Bridges, in addition to remaining an active member of Rotary International. He lives in Lakeview.

Previously he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney and as Chief Assistant to Cook County State’s Attorney Jack O’Malley. He also served on the Annual Fund Campaign Board of Catherine Cook School and on the Board of Directors of Near North Montessori School. Don and his partner, Andrew Thorrens, and their two daughters reside in Bucktown.

    Alicia is retired administrative director at Uniform Law Commissioners. She earned a BA from New York University. Her previous board memberships include Friends of the Parks, ACLU Illinois, SOS Children’s Villages, Redmoon Theater, Chicago Academy of Sciences, and Achievement Rewards for College Scientists. In addition, she volunteers with Flying Doctors of America and has volunteered as International Election Observer for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe; Court Appointed Special Advocate; Chicago Greeter; and with Habitat for Humanity. Alicia and her husband, Peter, have two adult sons.

    Dana is Senior Director of Business Development at Kaizen Health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. Currently she is Vice President of the Cook County Health Foundation Associate Board. She has served as President and remains a board member of both the Chicago Municipal Analyst Society and Women in Public Finance. A longtime volunteer with the Chicago Cares “Read-with-Me” program, she also serves on the Bauler Park subcommittee of the Lincoln Central Association. Dana and her husband, Jacob, are parents of two young sons.

She earned a BA degree in Studio Art from St. Olaf College and an MBA in Marketing Management from DePaul University. She lives in the West Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with her husband, Lee, and their cat, Kansas.

    Sonesh is the Vice President of Marketing and the Head of Digital at the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, where he oversees Digital Transformation and Marketing for the US and Canada. He has also consulted for various non-profits, in the areas of governance, strategic planning, and data management. He received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Economics from Northwestern University and lives in Wilmette with his wife and two young boys.

    Dr. Garland Thomas-McDavid assumed the role of CEO at North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP) in July 2017. A dynamic leader with a background spanning more than nineteen years, she has earned a reputation for driving excellence and results. Garland has held multiple leadership and instructional positions serving throughout the Chicagoland area. “Dr. TM” has devoted her career to making quality education accessible to all and has recently expanded her work to include coaching leaders, seeking to thrive through effective team building, management, and strategy. She maintains her job description is “whatever it takes (by any means necessary.)” Garland teaches indoor cycling at The Well Gym and maintains an active agenda of service and advocacy work for girls and women. In 2009, she completed her doctoral studies at DePaul University where she also taught graduate courses as an Adjunct Professor. As a new member of The Night Ministry's Board of Directors, she is eager to learn and add value!

    Dennis manages his own law firm, Dennis W. Thorn & Associates, specializing in real estate and general business law. He holds a BA degree from Syracuse University and a JD from The John Marshall Law School. Previously he was active in the River North Area Neighborhood Association and served as community representative to the William B. Ogden Elementary School Local School Council and also as Deacon, Elder, and Trustee at Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church.

Ted and his husband, Luke, are happy owners of a bernedoodle.

  • Paul W. Hamann, President & CEO

    Paul provides oversight and fiscal management to all program and development activities. As President & CEO, Paul provides strategic leadership and vision for The Night Ministry, working closely with the Board of Directors.

    Christy Prassas, Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement

    Christy is responsible for the planning, oversight and direction of fund development, public relations and marketing to support the organization's programs and mission. She works with the Board of Directors and the President & CEO to coordinate these efforts.

    Erin Ryan, Senior Vice President

    Erin oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization. She works to develop a more integrative approach to The Night Ministry’s programming to more clearly define how different programs interact and how they can continue to complement one another. Erin is responsible for leadership and management of daily administrative and programmatic operations of The Night Ministry, including: Youth Programs, Outreach and Health Ministry, Human Resources, and Finance & Administration.

    Traci Rivera, Chief of Staff

    Traci acts as a liaison between the President & CEO and other constituencies, both internal and external. Traci oversees the management of the Board of Directors, provides administrative support and coordination to the Executive leadership team, and assists the President & CEO in the process of effective decision making. She systematizes the execution of strategic initiatives and inter-departmental specials projects.
